[FULFILLED] Heritage Themed Kits

Thank you!! smiley

I would like to see pioneer, oxen, covered wagon, sod house, and old settler types of things.

The town where I live in Australia was originally a gold-mining town, so that would be good, too.

This one has my vote. I love working on my family tree. I've been pretty successful finding a lot of my ancestors from early to late 1800's, it's amazing.

heritage has my vote also, especially family tree type.

Love this idea, pioneers, crossing the ocean to immigrate, anything like that.

Genealogy inspired stuff sounds great. But do you mean actual heritages (Scottish, English, Irish, etc.)?

I would like to see the heritage kits with the family tree with all the branches

I would like to see heritage kits that don't have 'vintage things' that I can't possibly use on my pages such as bird cages and vintage photos of some 'period' person (hope this makes sense). I know other people find these things useful, but I've never been able to use these items in my heritage scrapbook pages, and I've created 4 albums already.

I like the option of neutral tones (browns, tans & white) or muted combinations that have a pop color (which I'm rarely good at choosing). I could also see a "heritage theme" such as Irish, Italian, Spanish, etc. If it's done right, those themes could be used for anyone's heritage but they happen to like the color scheme better.

Finally, it could be fun to have 'heritage' scrapbook kits that aren't always about the 1800s. My mother's and father's heritage would be from the 1940s-2000s. My grandparents start up in the 1920s and move into the 1970s. Many of their photos are from the 1940 time period (black and white). That transforms into the early color of the 1950s and 1960s. Finally we have oh so fun to scrapbook 1970s and 1980s. Often, kits featuring these time periods focus on the 'theme' of the years, rather than complimenting the photo processing of the time period. I would like to see less of a 'trendy' kit with color schemes that are so bold they overshadow the kinds of photos and stories that I have to work with. However, this wish doesn't mean some trendy items would be unwelcome.

Can you tell I have worked a lot on my heritage scrapbooks? I'm also working on scrapbooks from when I was a little girl. These are the wishes I have when I'm searching for kits to help me accomplish my goals.

Is any of this making sense? Does anyone else feel the same way?

Hi ladies. I've stared a board on Pinterest to start collecting idea for this. If you'd like to add images that interest you, please leave me a comment on this pin and I'll add you. You will need to be following both me and the board for me to add you.

I've already pinned a few color/texture ideas! I love the idea of having a more modern heritage kit. My parents are from the early 1950's...poodle skirts just popped into my head. Oh no.... smiley

@Devon: I totally understand and agree with you, I have been researching my family's genealogy for years now, and after gathering ideas and searching on Google for Genealogy kits and templates I know a lot of what's being offered out there by other designers, and while all the kits are gorgeous they are not really useful to tell my family's history. I have Italian and Portuguese ancestry, and my ancestors immigrated to Brazil in the 1800s, so needless to say I couldn't find much that would match these elements of my family's heritage, so I decided to make my own, even though I am starting a website in Portuguese for my Heritage designs, the kits will include Italian and Portuguese word art and hopefully will be useful to a lot of people...I am also planning on making English versions which I will be sharing here and through my English language blog, and also, I plan on making the templates universally appealing to any family historian and amateur genealogists smiley

My websites:
- Geeky Shy Mama
- Conte a História da Sua Família -> translation: Tell Your Family's History (under construction)
- Genealogia da Família Bonesso -> translation: The Bonesso Family Genealogy (planning a huge re-design coming soon), there's a Google translation button at the website's footer if you are interested in reading about my family smiley

@Marisa and @Tina and all interested members: I have been pinning ideas on these boards for a few years now, please feel free to browse and re-pin anything you find useful to the DigitalScrapbook.com board:

- Genealogy: Digital Scrapbooking Resources
- Genealogy: Scrapbook Ideas
- Genealogy: How to Tell Your Family History

I hope I helped somehow smiley

Thanks Daniela!

You are welcome Marisa smiley

I think genealogy type trees with blanks to fill in the names would be very useful!

Love this idea. I have been working on my family tree for over 20 years, and have found a ton of photos I would love to get into books with the correct info....

I have this kit that I made since I am doing my own family genealogy - some of the papers are from my own family tree.

Family Tree
And then I have this brush set that is for 3 different types of tree lines

I am very much into my family genealogy. I am hoping to see more kits in that...

Hoping this one works out, my cousin just sent me a bunch of photos of my granparents, great grandparents, and my great great grandfather...

REALLY hoping this becomes a reality. I've been doing my family history for some time and have traced my paternal lineage in Scotland all the way back to the 1300's! Royalty at that! LOL For someone like me who has a very mixed heritage, it would be great to have kits to work with that reflected those individual countries. I'm Scotch, Irish, Dutch, German, French and English. My maternal GF made us learn this early on in childhood; he felt it made us more American as this is a country of immigrants. I realize these nationalities are more common than some others, but it would still be fantastic to have specifics for each country. Maybe our members outside of the US could help us with that the best!

Sorry ladies, for putting everything scrapbook related on hold...the last 2 months were really tough on me, personal and family problems completely overwhelmed me and I descended back to a deep depression...I am feeling better now, but still feel confusion and fatigue when I try to concentrate on something, today is the first day I logged in in weeks...I will try to catch up...especially on my promise regarding the heritage kits.

Lots of goodies from the blog train, including my bundle:
