FILTER FORGE

I just bought Filter Forge Professional 6.0, and now I need to learn how to use it!

Does anyone here use this program? Do you have any good tips, or tutorial links to share?

I would be grateful for any help!

It depends what you want to use it for. Do you want to apply effects to shapes or images or do you want to create your own filters?

If you want to use the existing effects to create your own elements/photo effects, it is quite straightforward:
- find a filter that you like or that resembles the effect you want to get
- download it
- open the shape/photo in your program (I use PSP, and it is working with Photoshop too, obviously)
- find the Filter Forge plugin to open it, and navigate to the filter you want to apply
- then, it is time to tweak the various settings. They are numerous so you can spend a good deal of time to tweak them

If you want to create your own filters, then it is a bit more complicated:
- you need to have some existing filters to open them and "study" them.
- get familiar with the various effects used in the making of a particular result; here is an interesting video: https://youtu.be/AQgJDxNmZr8
- i found one set of youtube video that are good to walk through that:

Beware, this can be addictive!

Carole has really said it all. FF has a pretty good documetation and there are many examples given with tuts and all. I started by just going with what tickled my fancy. I had some photos that I wanted to change in a certain way and found a filter and example look that came close-ish to what I was after, then I worked on the settings from there. Be careful though FF is highly addictive smiley Enjoy!

Filter Forge is on sale right now and I really like to buy it. But I don't know if the standard version is enough or should I buy the professional version? What is the difference when working with the filters? I like to create my own filters.

in the standard version, your photo's can not be bigger than 3000x3000 pixels. (it was when I bought v7)
So it depends on how big the pictures are that you want to use the filter on.

Thank you, Patricia!
