PS7 - Layer Glitch - Can't find answer

Once you stop laughing that I am using Photoshop 7... smiley It is doing this weird thing; I used to be able to hit CTRL and be able to select multiple layers in the layer window. NOW, when I hit CTRL and try to select a layer, it literally 'selects' it with a selection bubble. I can't seem to find a way to make it go back OR find a result online, which is surprisingly weird.

To select one layer at a time use the CTRL ... to select several layers at a time use the shift key .... is that your problem? ... I've done that or sometimes I hit the windows key instead of the CTRL

After it selects it with the bubble, will it allow you to work with the layer?

Yes, I can do pretty much anything, as if I had selected it with a selection tool. smiley

So just an update.. I think I figured this out. In PS7, you 'Link' layers, instead of using the CTRL key to select multiple layers. So far that has worked just as if I was in a newer version of PS and hit the CTRL key and selected layers. Just in case anyone else had this issue or question. smiley

So, I'm using Photoshop CC, but I do know that there is a different effect if you click on the layer preview thumbnail versus the layer title with the control key held down.

For example if I hold the Ctrl key and click on the title for each layers in the layers palette (Layer 1, Layer 2, etc...) it selects those layers. If I click on the actual thumbnail next to the title, it selects those layers but also puts a scrolling marquee around the entire canvas.

Make sense?

Yea, totally makes sense! Although in my old PS7, that made no difference. smiley It works that way in my CS5 though. I am convinced my programs are just possessed. LOL

smiley , Nicole! I find that programs get 'possessed' at the most inconvenient time!

Photoshop does that for me every once in a while, my computer rig is getting old though. Sometimes a restart, or quitting PS and restarting helps.
