Text tool in PSE11

Hi all,
I don't know if I am imagining this or not, but its seems the text kerning in my PSE11 has gotten tighter. I know that PSE doesn't have a kerning option, so I am really confused! Has anyone ever had this problem. I can't seem to find any help via google. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Are you using a different font? Some fonts are created with a minimal kerning, while others have a larger kerning.

I know that my Win 10 did an update recently and a lot of my fonts seemed to change in certain programs...so maybe your comp did an update that may have affected how they appear?

I'm just putting stuff out there...maybe someone else may have an answer or similar issue.

Rachel,
Thank you. I appreciate your response. I tried many fonts and they all did the same thing. Fonts I am familiar with, this is why I am so confused. I never thought about an update changing things. It is easy enough to change over to photoshop to do the text. I was just wondering!

Just wondering...does this only happen in PSE? Do you get the same response in any other program using text? It is possible that there may be an issue with your font(s). Have you downloaded any font(s) from external source(s) that were not pre-installed with your PC programs? Was there a recent point in which they did function properly and thus, can you do a system restore?

Cathy,
Thanks for your input. Everything works as it should in gimp and photoshop. I think I may be going crazy though because I just tried pse11 again, and it looks ok. Very strange. I wish I could remember all the fonts I was trying when I noticed the tight kerning, but I just did a lot and it looks fine. Weird! Have a great holiday.

Betsy, happy to hear that all is okay again. I understand about weird things like that because it happens to me too without rhyme or reason. I was concerned that perhaps the affected fonts might be showing early signs of corruption as that can happen. I make backups of all my fonts in a separate folder in case I suspect something is wrong and I can reinstall a copy of them, or preferably, I install the font(s) as a shortcut to minimize the number of fonts loaded, making the PC and my programs run smoother with less chance of crashing or other issues. You have a great holiday too and a happy 2016!
