Didn't realize how emotionally affected I was by this event, but seeing all the reminders on Facebook has me on a sincere emotional roller coaster ride today. I'm too young to know about where I was when JFK was shot, but I guess this is what it must have felt like because I do recall where I was when this happened.

I remember too. I am in Australia, my Husband was in the Army and he called at 11:30pm me and told me to turn on the tv. It was devastating, but I couldn't stop watching.

My daughter (1 at the time) and I were due to go and see him a few days later at his training base but they got put on lockdown so we couldn't go (an extremely minor thing compared to the thousands that lost their lives).

I was in Manhattan, it was a rough day. It did change my life on many levels. Most people don't realize that 1 million people lost their jobs in Manhattan, NY in the aftermath. The stock market plummeted causing many companies let go of most of their workforce and many others simply filed for bankruptcy, but more than that, like all tragedies, it touched so many people in so many different ways. I changed my career, by necessity and took up photography again which led me to digital scrapbooking as a way of expressing myself. I love being able to print coffee table book albums vs. the old style picture albums full of fading images pasted-in or sealed behind plastic. I LOVE the freedom to create!
