for KING & COUNTRY?

Anyone? I'm a pretty die hard fan and have tried to go see fK&C anytime they're in the metroplex!

We saw them at Harvest America at the American Airlines center last November, but that filled up and so we ended up watching them on massive TV's in the outdoor "overflow", but that's okay! We tried to go to Winter Jam this past February, but when we arrived to ours, the line was ridiculously long so we passed. Then, I finally got to see them in person at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary back in May. Let me tell you, if you can see your band at a smaller venue, GO! It was great! Probably helps that this band is incredibly nice and has a fan meet & greet afterwards!

However, last night, they performed a free concert at a hotel in downtown Dallas (we live in Fort Worth, about 30 miles away) and asked for volunteers for the merchandise booth. I thought, long shot, but hey...I'll offer. And I got asked to do it...and they said "bring helpers"! So, me, Paxtyn (18 year old) and Chester (hubby) all went - we left Ashton, our 10 year old, with grandma for the evening (he's quick to whine (I'm tired, my feet hurt, I'm bored, etc...and we were there to work). You get in early (and free if it's a paid event), a little "swag" (Chester and I got t-shirts and Paxtyn got a hoodie), and a meet & greet with the band.

The job itself wasn't hard...a little inventory counting and then just managing the sales and putting it all away at the end. We got to use Square on ipads...pretty simple. We were across from a table of the radio station that was hosting, too, and they kept bringing swag over to Chester, despite my protests (he brings home all that free stuff then never does anything with it and I end up getting rid of it). Although, they did give a Thomas the Train DVD to take back to Ashton - he loved it!

And the concert was in the lobby/bar area (yes, alcohol was available for those who desired - kind of strange for a Christian concert) of this hotel, so we could hear and (somewhat) see it (our banner was kinda in the way). Luke ran off just before we got to meet & greet, but Joel was still there, so we got to take photos with him (again - got my photo with him back in May at the concert).

Earlier in the evening, I showed our merchandise coordinator "boss" my "It's not over yet" tattoo, which was inspired by their song, and he took photos of it and was like, "No way!". I showed it to Joel and he grabbed my wrist and was like "No way!" and was showing it to his manager/publicist lady, who was also like "No way!" smiley And, we got to see Joel and Moriah Peters walk out of the hotel (sorry...didn't have my camera ready for that one)! And our "boss" said we could come back and help again for Winter Jam, as we were good workers and were a lot of fun (we didn't take the job too serious, had a sense of humor, were singing, etc.)!

If you ever get a chance to volunteer for something like this, DO IT! Good times!

So awesome! I only know of For King and Country because of you. smiley
