Guyyyyys he's pickin' on me

I told my partner I was so excited, I've almost finished our Prague Trip digiscrapbook (We went to Prague in June, this is actually really fast based on my normal standards) and he looks at me deadpan and says, "Ok, and Naples? What about Cogoletto?" He knows my secrets. o_o He knows I'll never catch up. Aaaaaagh.

LOL, you will catch up...one day! smiley

Ha! Sounds like my remodeling plans for my house hahaha! Projects are neverending! lol

Hey....at least you can't say that you're bored lol.

Bunny- I doubt it some days! Lol

Ain't that the truth Rachel! I am actually really happy when I have some projects slated, and the digiscrapping is super portable, in that I "only" need my computer to get things done, so even when we're back and forth between my place and his, it's the easiest project to bring with aside from maybe my beadwork.

catch... whaaaaat?

I gave up on catching up. I need digiscrapping to be a stress reliever, not another stress cause...

So. True. I need to remember that sometimes with family projects! That sentiment is going on a sticky note on my computer screen!

My daughter just said to me "Mom you made a book for me when I was 1, and 2, and 3. Why Haven't you done one for me when I was 4 and 5?"

I wanted to respond "Because you suck the life out of me!|

I keep saying I'm only 2 1/2 years behind but I know we're getting into the realm of lost causes smiley. I understand you! smiley

If it helps, I have still not begun scrapbooking our wedding, and we got married in 2015! If I am honest though that is mainly because I was so upset by the photos. We used a special discount package but the person running it let us down completely. They promised us a disk of finished images, three large prints of photos of our choosing and a slideshow of the highlights of the day. The photographer on the day was lovely (everyone commented on it) but the photos just didn't seem to arrive. When I tracked down the photographer on Facebook to ask what was going on, he said he sent the photos to the man weeks ago and agreed to chase up the editor who hired him. A while after that we received the basic CD the photographer had sent to the editor, hand written with unedited photos on. Not only will I need to scrapbook them but also develop editing skills good enough.

That was long winded!

Susan, it was ending up on disability due to fibro that prompted my teaching myself photography as a way to keep myself busy (digital is cheap and you can take good, sometimes even great, pics with any modern smartphone camera). Naturally, then I needed to learn to edit my photos to make them look their best. To this day, when it comes to photos, the adjustments I use most are Levels and Curves, plus the Spot Healing brush. If you can learn to use those three well, you can really make your photos pop with a minimum of time and effort. The Dodge and Burn tools are great for bringing a little more light or shadow into part of the image; I work in single-digit percentages with a 0% hardness brush and do it on an 18% gray layer in Overlay blend mode so that I'm not damaging the original. If you've got 2-3 shots of the same group, with someone always having blinked, you can stack them on top of each other in a second document and erase through with a small soft brush to composite a photo where everyone's eyes are open and nobody's doing a dopey smile or looking down at a fidgeting flower girl. That's really all it should take to edit up properly lit and exposed photos, which I'd assume your photographer should have done.

As far as getting the large prints when you're done, I've had GREAT experiences with AdoramaPix and even used them to print my son's senior photos; I'd shot and edited them using my DSLR, then ordered up several 8x10s and 5x7s plus around 200 wallet-size for him to give to anyone he wished, and they were delivered within a week for under $60. So when you get your photos edited to your satisfaction, I'm sure that you can get great prints made of them for a reasonable cost.

Holly has some great suggestions, Susan! I understand how disappointing an unprofessional photographer can be- I am still waiting for my sister's wedding pictures from two years ago to be delivered for a lot of the same reasons you are. smiley An entire weekend from one of my Digiscrapbooks is missing for just that reason and it's suuuuuper frustrating (As well as throwing me off my creative jam, whoops).

Ha! I'm still working on scrapbooks from 5 years ago smiley

Sylvan, what a cute story... funny.
I, too like many others comments above gave up on ever "catching up" lol.
I've been married 19 years this past week and I'm still NOT done with my wedding album. hahahaha
I have become more like Lórien scrapping for stress relief. Which you would think with my stress lately I should have finished 10 albums this year alone. smiley But it's a double sided coin... sometimes the stress is too much to even get your mojo going!

I agree with and relate to many of you, I like to keep this hobby as afun, joyful thing to do, not make it a chore.

Just imagine what it would really mean if one were to "catch up"......what would one then do?!

LOL--Catching up is over rated!! Just work on the event/project that you're inspired you.
Sorry for those that are waiting for pictures smiley

Go take more pictures, obviously! smiley

I am about 133 Pictures and 34 pages into my Naples scrapbook now, 407 left on the trip. smiley

My problem is I have too many projects (photo books) going at one time to be able to finish any of them anytime soon. But I will say, in the case of yesterday with my husband working a double shift, I seize the opportunities when I can and scrap on and off all day. I started the day by doing a few layouts for my granddaughters book, then when I ran out of creative juices for that, I switched over to our wedding book, and then to my kids' coffee table books. In-between all that, I was here smiley So I did get a lot accomplished, but still have a ways to go!
