When my kids were young & "acting" up I'd usually call the child in question by the wrong mane...I got THE look & "THAT's Not my mane"..my answer was...Well you know who you are.. & numerous time called either a girlfriend of son's or boyfriend of daughter's by the last "love".. now I just call the 'flavor of the moment' saves brain strain

When we were growing up my mother would always roll call through all our names ( my brothers, sister and sometimes it would include my aunts, uncles) until she would get the right one. I find that I sometimes do this myself now lol. We also always knew when we were in big trouble because she would call us by our full name first & middle. I sometimes tend to do this too when my kids are in trouble.
I do it all the time. I get my dogs mixed up on a regular basis but they don't seem to mind. I also have trouble with some of our older male customers for some reason they seem to look alike - and most of them are in overalls. I just tell them " I know I know you, but my brain's on break and I can't remember your name. They don't usually seem to be mind.
I do - mostly the troublemakers - my 3 yo niece and my 1 yo dog!
Actually your question makes me want to go back and scrap a family story with an old photo of my mom, if I can find one from the right age. My grandfather was notoriously bad with names and he would almost always call my mother, his 2nd daughter, by a string of names instead - her mom's name, her older sister's name, and finally her name.
On the first day of kindergarten, the teacher asked my mother what her name was, and she proudly told her, "Emily-Rita-Linda!"
Alexa I love that story! My Mom also called the roll including both my brothers' names which seemed quite normal to me!!
So I'm not the only one???
It takes me ages to learn a new name, as if my "hard drive" is full...
Still, it takes only a second to forget them
yeah, yup .... I am one of those that will name everybody in the family including the pets when I am calling somebody.... and as for remembering names ... I'm better at it than I used to be because I play games with somebody's name so I remember it ... that includes my license plate ... I have no brain for that facts and figures which is weird because I'm really good at math ... go figure
I call my kids the wrong names all the time! Especially the baby now that he's getting older and into the 'toddler' phase of mischief. It's a bit surreal sometimes to have 3 children all getting into mischief now, although I knew it was coming.
Yep.. it definately happens. I get my cousins mixed up all the time. It would help if their names didn't start with the same letter... but that's just an excuse on my part.
