When we were doing a lot of repainting in our house I got one of those paint chip sampler things on a ring that you have to pay for. I liked looking thru it so much that that I kept it rather than how the store said bring it back when you're done and get your money back (like carpet or floor samples). My dau saw an idea about using such strips for bookmarks and made some nice ones.
