Probably a bit early, but...

I just ordered a bunch of Halloween decorations for the house and I can't wait to decorate! I've never celebrated Halloween before let alone had a decorated house so I'm pretty excited! I also snagged a bunch of amazing deals on 'last years' decor since stores are of the mindset 'out with the old, in with the new', old apparently being 1 year.. their loss, my gain!

So I'm wondering, do you guys go all out when decorating? Do you decorate for Halloween or just autumn? Do you have a specific all-out season? Most seem to favour Christmas it seems and I'm excited to do that for the first time this year smiley Perhaps I wont go all out but I'm excited to at least change the house a bit and make it more festive than the usual nothing I've always had - shouldn't be too hard. smiley

I don't do the holiday decorations as much. I do more the four seasons... Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter. They are more versatile and can stay up longer than just a few weeks to month. LoL smiley
May I ask why this will be your first time decorating? Did something change that has made this a new tradition for you? I just ask because most peoples traditions are set by generations of family before them or as children things they loved. just curious. smiley

I think over time I may do a seasonal decor, I just need to accumulate things here and there smiley

First time for a few reasons, 1- I grew up in a household of Jehovah's Witnesses who don't celebrate holidays or birthdays, 2- Since living on my own I've never really been motivated to spice up the decor (nor was it ever what I wanted to spend my money on in my early 20s), but now I'm officially in the latter half of my 20s, married with a baby and I just want to create a home that isn't so stagnant. I want to enjoy coming home because it's cozy and home-y, not just because it's home. ..if that makes sense smiley

When our kids were little and participated in trick or treating, we would decorate outside around the house for Halloween night for all the kiddies enjoyment.

But our kids are all grown up now and living on their own in the big wide world, so we don't bother with the Halloween decor anymore other than carving up a pumpkin to put at the front door for handing out candies to all the kids.

Christmas though, I tend to go all out with the decorations, baked goodies, gifts, and enough food and nibbles to feed an army throughout the month December. During that time of year we always have family, friends, and neighbours popping by for some "Xmas cheer", so I make sure to have plenty of nibbles on hand that I can whip out on short notice.

I love the Christmas season (I'm still like a kid that way), so as soon as it hits December, out comes all the decorations to gussy up the house and make it cheerful and merry. Seeing the house all decorated and pretty looking puts a big smile on my face and boosts my spirit.

Our cat loves Christmas too and has her very own favourite Christmas song:

"Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree... your ornaments are history"

*sigh*

An entire Army, huh? smiley Do you have a signature dish? A commonly requested favourite? A personal favourite to bake/cook?

Hahaha, we have two cats as well. I'm very curious to see how well decorations work and/or last. One cat, an old man named James, doesn't care about much other than food. The other, a 1 year old obnoxious little thing named Tikki, loves to get in as much trouble as quickly as possible each day... It should be interesting!

I usually only decorate at Christmas, if I decorate. We often travel at the holidays, often for at least a month, so we don't usually get to see the decorations. That being said, I still have a box of Christmas decorations.

@Kayl: Are you going to dress Alex up? I guess it's time to figure out what to dress Magnus up as. I've been looking forward to eating his candy from trick or treating since last year when I was pregnant and I realized I could take him out this year! My reward it almost here! Also taking suggestions for baby costume ideas.

Hahaha well I'm sure the house enjoys getting fancied for Christmas even if you guys don't get to see it smiley

I think Alex is going to be Superman but we don't plan to leave the house as far as I'm aware. I will however post it to his instagram, haha. I saw the Superman onesie/pyjama and bought it just because it happened to be roughly the size he'll be come halloween, it's also pretty thick so perfect for winter-y weather. Have you considered doing a family theme type of costume set? Or will you only dress up little Magnus?

Too funny that you've been waiting a year to steal the poor guys loot! Is there something you're looking forward to particularly? A favourite?

Kayl: shot us some pics of your decorations smiley Would love to see:> smiley I love toddlers all dressed up for Halloween.

@Kayl: I like most candy smiley

One of my favorite recipes or food items are the pies that start to come out in the fall time... Pecan, Cherry, & Pumpkin would be my most favs with Pecan at the very top but it's so sweet and the older I've gotten and the fact I don't act that much sugar at all anymore, it's limited with a nice HOT cup of coffee (usually flavored liked Hazelnut) smiley
