Remembering the story behind pictures

I take a lot of random pictures throughout the day of things that have a story that goes with them but as time passes I often forget the story and why I took the picture by the time it comes to scrapbook the picture. I hope that makes seance.

Ultimately, my question is how do you keep track of what you wanted to journal about a picture so you dont forget it between when you take the photo and when you actually get to scrapbook it?

I write it down in notes on my phone smiley

Lena, do you use an app or how do you note them on your phone?

If I'm cranking through several pages and don't feel I have time to journal, or when I have all these photos and don't feel like scrapping them for awhile, I either use a Post-It note to write f=down specific points that can jog my memory (on the unfinished layouts) and since I store my pics on my laptop, I create a word document and name it the same as the photo file's name so I can come back to those memories when I want.

I place all my photos into weekly folders and have a create a notepad file were I write everything down I want to remember for when I get to scrapping these shots. If the kids say something or something happens I particularly want to remember I jot it down in a notepad and transfer it to the computer later that night. I find the photo is usually what triggers the memories for me though.

Great idea with the word doc! Thank you!

Awesome idea! Thank you!

I write stuff down in the Quick Memo app on my Android phone. Or, when I go on trips, I bring a notebook and pen and make notes about what pictures I took in which city and state, and on what date, so I can put something together later. This applies not for just scrapbooking, but for my photography in general. I have a few friends who like to take pictures and we love to go on day trips and photograph old and abandoned buildings. We usually hit up several towns/cities in one day and I can't always remember where I took what photograph, so I take notes about what city we were in and what street I took the pictures on. I make individual folders to save each trip's photos in and will usually create a Word Pad document inside that folder to keep my notes in about that particular trip.

Great idea. Thanks Debra!
