Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

With Thanksgiving coming in just 7 days, I know that most of us are excited, prepping and salivating over all the food we're about to eat.

What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving dishes and traditions?
Do you watch the Thanksgiving Day parade with your family every year?
Do you break out all the Christmas decor the day after?
Do you do any Black Friday shopping?
For those is other countries, do you have a holiday like Thanksgiving and how do you celebrate it? I love hearing about other countries/cultures celebrations!

One of my favorite dishes is candied yams with marshmallows on top.... Now that I got the diabetes diagnosis earlier this year, however, that is one of the dishes I can no longer make. *sigh* I really need to sit down & figure out a special meal that's diabetic-friendly so my family won't resent me...

My husband & I will put the Thanksgiving parade on, but our kids (for whatever reason) never seem to be interested...

I always start decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. I just love how the house looks at Christmastime. And this year my birthday falls on the day after Thanksgiving, so it will be extra special to me.

I've only done Black Friday shopping once - it was a miserable experience (people are not kind, they cut off people, swear at you, smoke around you even after you've explained you're allergic, ram you with their shopping carts, etc.) & I'll never do it again. For whatever reason it seems to bring out the worst in people...

A few years back I started making a sweet potato dish I found from the Pioneer Woman. I cut the sugar by more than half and they are still sweet, delicious, and a hit! Since we've moved to California, we've gone to the same couple's house every year. She said I had to bring them again this year. smiley I also think I'm going to try a pumpkin cheesecake.

I've done Black Friday shopping a few times, but have never been motivated to get up super early to go anywhere. I do most of it from home at my computer. This year I'm really looking forward to Black Friday in digiland! smiley
