turning kids artwork into...

Okay, so this a "non-digital" question: My son and I just started Mom&Me preschool, this is once a week and I already have a crazy amount of "art" piling up! i don't mean the super cute stick figure attempts at self-portraits. I mean 14x14 squares covered in gobs of blue paint, and circles with yellow paint. Don't get me wrong I love that he is learning shapes and colors, but my fridge is only so big! My child is not (at least that I can tell!) the next Picasso, I have no intention of saving every piece of his artwork (that doesn't make a bad mom, right?)...so, that all being said I am looking for ideas of what to do recycle some of the art. I plan on cutting pumpkin shapes out of the orange/red/yellow papers and making a banner as decor for around the house, but am looking for other ideas! Do any of you journaler-types have experience with using sharpie over acrylic paint?..maybe I can turn some into thank you cards for Christmas? ALL ideas are welcome (not sure if it helps, but I am only just beginning this whole digi-scrap thing, and am still a pretty avid paper scrapper so I have lots of tools!)

Thanks!!!

You already have several ideas going there! Do you have grandparents or aunts & uncles who would love to get some of the little one's creations? I often times would just take a picture or scan of the artwork before tossing it. But if you could cut some of them you could make paper bows for wrapped gifts. And on the scrapbooking theme you could make them into journal cards, gift tags, ect. You could make paper flower rosettes too. I used to make them from paper bags and would dip the edges in glitter. All kinds of DIY tutorials out there on those things.
Have fun!

ooh thanks Jessica! i have never played much with flowers, but I bet a cute little bouquet would totally be appreciated by the grandmothers!!! smiley

IF you do PL type scrapping IRL you could always... photograph several of the more special ones and include the pics of them in the little slots just for the memory preserving aspect of the mommy & me time. Photograph 2-3 pieces to one picture and then print them in the 2.5x3.5 sizes... At least the memories would be there.
I love your ideas of using the originals in cards or how about some gift tags for the holidays. or wrapping paper for small gifts... kind of like we used to do with the comic strips pages. smiley

gift tags! thats great! I was trying to remember my art class days...when we would tear up paper and use it to create collages and such...may think about doing something along those lines as well...if I do I will post a pic here smiley

thanks Ladies!!!
