Using my scrapping hobby to chart my OTHER hobbies

Hi all!

I am procrastinating taking care of my gardening- I need to put down the herbs so I can have basil this summer- and in the meantime, it got me thinking about how I use my scrapbooking hobby to chart all of my other hobbies.

- Restoration
- Mosaics
- Gardening
- Cooking
- Travelling

What hobbies of yours do YOU scrap about ?

cooking, travelling too

Great thread, Sylvan!

I document:
Traveling
Sewing (clothes for me, usually from vintage or vintage-style patterns)
Gardening (I have several really large perennial beds & am gutting & redoing one this year so that's going to get lots of room in this year's scrapbook!)

While not a hobby (I do enjoy it but I do it because I need to) I'll periodically add my workouts to my albums, as in what I'm doing & how I'm doing --- I'm still rehabbing from a broken leg (fully healed) & torn MCL (not) I suffered in early October.

And December Daily - my very favorite album to make each year. I love everything about the Christmas season (& we don't even do gifts!)

Mine are mainly traveling, genealogy, and quilting as far as hobbies I have scrapped about.
I, too like Sarah scrap about my personality and/or achievements like weight loss or lifestyle changes that can take a while to do or succeed at. smiley

Ditto to Shawna. I'm also into genealogy & think that ties in a lot to scrapbooking. I have lots of pre-digital family albums and since digi have used scans of the smaller number of old (as in my mother's scrapbooks) photos to make some nice vintage type pages. And I have a collection of albums documenting all the quilts I've made. Most of them have actual fabric snippets but I had a hard time getting them to stick, and photo copies of the labels which saved on the labeling. I haven't really made digi quilt pages but would like to do so for some of my favorite quilts. I recently chanced upon someone who must quilt as she her freebies, which are all templates and/or masks, often have geometric and even quilt block type designs. I've just learned how to use templates and masks, so want to try a couple of those.

Just a little idea at what I've done if I wanted to include the fabric square samples is those little pvc free envelopes we used to could get at the scrap store... I'm sure other places now... is put them in there and it's easier to get that to attach to the paper with adhesives. Another idea... is to use like a tiny Tim Holtz stapler and attach them that way. smiley If you're doing it digi... then just take a few close up snaps of the fabrics, like of all your fat quarters pre-cutting, maybe some of the piecework snapshots and include the fabric that way with a larger image of the finished work after quilting & binding it all together. smiley
You could do a mini album or brag book of sorts of all your completed quilts with info on why/what occasion it was made for, when, how long, where you lived... something simple like One photo and Just The Facts, 5W's & H. It would be simple, quick, and oh so rewarding to look back on.

Feel free to share link or samples of this idea transferred to scrapping, I'd love to see it.

Some good ideas there, thanks. Need to get back to the quilting and the genealogy. Recently I've been more fixated on the digiscrap. I seem to get into phases & be really into one or the other, then switch gears to one of the others.

I've just begun crocheting and have made one layout so far, with many more to come!

i am in the process of doing some recipe & food scrapping. But I have done a quilt one before.

I'm into photography. I have made a couple of pages with photos of me taking photos smiley

I started to create a family cookbook because I love to cook. I have not managed to actually do that smiley

I am planning one on my blog for November - Will make one project each day with a cover and baking.
