What are you reading?

I thought it would be interesting to check out what people are reading. I'm currently going through a non-fiction phase. Not sure what's up with that, but I'm having trouble focusing on things with a plot.

Currently Reading

How to Love Wine by Erica Asimov
Reading this in Jordan is perhaps a little counter-productive since it's pretty hard to get wine here...

The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner
Love travel? Curious about happiness. This books seems pretty interesting so far...

I was thinking on post the same topic, lol!

Well, I´m currently reading only fiction. The main book I´m reading is:

It has more or less 800 pages (I´m on page 250 or so, there´s a long way to go!), so I need to leave the book at work. This one I´m reading in English. By now, I like the story smiley

I am also reading "The Life, the Universe, and everything", the third part of "the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy". I am trying to finally finishing reading this series, or, at least, the 5 first books, as it seems there´s a 6th on the go...

I'm on a mystery and True Crime kick. I'm mostly reading stuff I get for free on my Kindle but also some library books. Right now I'm reading these:

and (though it wasn't free)

I'm actually reading two things.

One is a devotional and the other is a reading plan.

- Discovery Devotional by David Jeremiah

-And the Bible in Chronological order. Reading Plan

I'm reading historical novels.

"The Dovekeepers" by Alice Hoffman is such an incredible and wonderfully written book. I love every page.

"Crippen" is a novel about murder, based on a true story.

Attempting to catch up on my Guideposts reading.... I am SO far behind.

I'm reading two books right now, which is very unusual for me! I'm reading "The Hobbit" and "The Year of Living Biblically."

Next is

In the Garden of the Beasts by Erik Larson and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Got some new books to add to my Goodreads list! I like historical fiction & true crime, so I'm excited to check out Crippen, @Sunny!

Right now I'm working on an audio collection of short stories, Pretty Monsters by Kelly Link. It's okay, but I'm not sure I'll finish. I have a couple other audiobooks calling my name.

I've just started Sold by Patricia McCormick, and I'm excited for this one.

So fun to see what everyone is reading! Thanks for sharing. And some of these I'll have to check out!

Most of my reading, I do via audiobook (Audible and Librivox) now, but I did just get a HUGE actual book (almost 1000 pages!), that I won from DelRey's twitter account! smiley Great North Road, by Peter F. Hamilton

This is one of my husband's favorite (scifi) authors, one I like as well. His world-building and character-creating are just...staggering. Like it actually gets exhausting sometimes, keeping track of everything - but I'm also totally sucked in, I keep reading "just a bit" before bed and staying up an extra hour! My husband's actually listening to the audiobook version while I'm physically reading the book, we're curious to see who finishes first, given that he usually listens to books at double-speed and I probably read at about that speed, lol!

I'm definitely going to look into a few of the books you all are reading - I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but, as an artist..yeah I'll 'fess up to doing it anyway. smiley

The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson.

Funny, absurd, adventure, crime, history and oddball and charming characters. And an elephant named Sonya.

I'm re-reading The Host, by Stephenie Meyer, so it'll be fresh (but not too fresh) when the movie comes out in March. My daughter and I decided we shouldn't finish it within days of seeing the movie, like we did with Hunger Games, and then picked apart the whole movie. lol

I'm also readingThe Child Whisperer, by Carol Tuttle. Great book, but I have a hard time staying with self help books. I get bored.

I have just finished re-reading Jan Eyre for the sixth time...

And moving on to another of my favorite authors:

I have been reading this:

It is good and I have learned many things, while reading this book - will probably finish it today.

Thanks for sharing! I've put myself on the wait list at the library for a couple of those.

I don't have a photo, but I just got Brandon Sanderson's Memory of Light - Finally finished!! It should keep me busy for a while!

I've actually been reading fan fiction of late... Sookie Stackhouse/Eric Northman fan fics mostly and then a Twilight fic that focuses on Angela Webber called 'Roses in Winter' by Whispering Wolf... and now I just finished rereading some Willow Rosenburg (Buffy The Vampire Slayer Character) fan fic... I actually just started rereading a Buffy/Harry Potter crossover called 'A Drop In The Ocean' by Echo... it's pretty much an ensemble piece but it focuses on Willow and Tara and Giles as they teach at Hogwarts... it's one of my all time favorite fan fics... but for actual books the last one I read was the first 'Resident Evil' book 'Zero Hour' it was a very good book and if I can stop my gag reflex for a while I'll be able to finish the second book "The Umbrella Conspiracy" but it so vividly describes the zombies that I kept gagging so I haven't been able to finish the book... I don't usually go for Zombies but a friend recommended the series... Usually I go more for Vampires and Witches and Fairies and such so I read a lot of Charlaine Harris (The Sookie Stackhouse books), Laurel K. Hamilton (The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series), Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files), Simon R. Green (The Nightside Series) and Thomas Sniegoski (The Remy Chandler Series.) I highly recommend all those authors and series for anyone who likes Alternate Universe Fantasy/Urban Fantasy... oh and Faith Hunter's Thorn St. Croix series is awesome too as is Lilith Saintcrow's Dante Valentine Series. I reread all those series over and over.

@Betsy: I really enjoyed his Mistborn series, I'll have to check out some of his others.

I finished the Geography of Bliss, which was really good and I would recommend it. Now I'm reading Death Comes to Pemberly by P.D. James

I just finished reading the Game of Thrones books, and have moved on to another book by George R.R. Martin called Fevre Dream.

I'm in a reading rut. I want to get out of it. I think part of the problem is all my books are on my eReader but I want to read a book. I should find one...

I am reading "Cinder" by Marissa Meyer:

A retelling of the Cinderella story in which Cinderella is a cyborg from the moon, lol! Its actually really, really good so far!

I'm currently in a WW2 phase ... I've been reading "Band of Brothers" and all the spinoffs.

I looove reading books that my daughter is reading in her English Lit class. Currently I am reading a book (that I must say has a very strange title, but it's amazing!!!)....

I also have another book I am reading on my tablet, titled, "Thirteen Reasons Why..." I hear they're making this into a moving which I am dying to see!

@Brandi White I looove Ann Rule! One of my favorite authors!

Great recommendations! I'm checking some of those out.

Right now I'm rereading the Mary Russel series by Laurie King. There's a new one out, so I thought I'd start at the beginning and read my way through.

Ooooh, a new Laurie King??? Guess I know what my next read will be! I love the Mary Russel series!!

17% in and it is riveting!

I'm embarrased to say I haven't read a book in about 8 months. The last book I read was The Help. I've got several books on my bookshelf that I haven't even cracked the spine yet.

Some fast readers in here! I finished The Night Circus recently. It was good! A bit long, but good. I then unwittingly picked up another long novel, The 19th Wife. ha! Oops.

I think next will be Her Fearful Symmetry to read with some friends.
