Download Speeds

I've noticed a HUGE degradation in download speeds in the past few weeks. They seem to download a little faster in Firefox versus chrome, but both are a LOT slower than what they used to be.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Just adding my download speeds sometimes drop as low as 3-4 KB and sometimes time out. There are some portions I can't get now. smiley I have AT&T Uverse and other sites are working okay (Google Drive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc.).

Anyone else having issues with kits timing out when downloading?

I wonder if it's geographical...

Hi Tina, thanks for reporting this... this is strange to hear, since we host all our files with Amazon, and their servers are normally very dependable. It would help if you could provide as much information as possible on this by answering the following questions.

  1. Where are you located, geographically (city, state, country)?
  2. Do you have a generally fast and stable internet connection?
  3. Have you noticed any issues downloading large files from websites other than DigitalScrapbook.com?
  4. You say you've noticed download speeds getting worse over several months... was there a relatively sudden drop-off at some point that you noticed, or has it been a kind of slow-and-steady decline?
  5. Is this an issue with all downloads from DigitalScrapbook.com, or just some downloads, sometimes?
  6. Does the time of day seem to make any difference?
  7. Do the files which refuse to download start off super slow from the start, or do they start off downloading faster, and then slow way down?
  8. Are you able to come back to certain files that won't download, and download them successfully at other times?

Thanks a lot for any information you can provide! If we've got a systemic problem here, I certainly want to get it fixed.

If anyone else is experiencing slow downloads, it would help if you could reply here and answer the above questions. Thanks!

I am just now seeing this Jordan...my apologies!

  1. Fort Worth, TX USA
  2. Yes (AT&T Uverse / fiber)
  3. No - if I notice it here, I test another site, like Mediafire or 4shared
  4. Might have been a sudden drop that I just blew off initially...
  5. Up to a few days ago, I noticed the slowness on all the downloads (but the last 2 or 3 days seem back to "normal")
  6. No - see #3
  7. All the downloads start off good then degrade
  8. I eventually was able to come back some days later to the one that was being incredibly stubborn and download it without it timing out, so yes

Is there any test you want me to try when it happens again (since there seems to have been an improvement in the last couple of days), like running netstat or tracert?

Are you still experiencing download issues, Tina?

I haven't downloaded lately...I'll update next time I do. Thanks!

I downloaded a few things today and download speeds were back to "normal" for me. Thanks!

A good site to check your download/upload speed can be found at Speedtest
