Tagger Size

I noticed that one kit is tagger size in the blog train. What is this? Can I use the pieces on a 12x12 or 8x8 layout?
Thanks!

hmmm... not really Marty! They are generally very tiny in dpi. I've seen some people use 100 dpi (or 96 to be exact, web-size) for 6x6 layouts and they print ok but you can never print them any larger than that without them looking very grainy. Unfortunately, most of us 12x12 scrappers aren't able to use tagger sized kits because most of us want to print for posterity in our albums at home. smiley The reason these are popular is because they are soooo much smaller and for people that only digi scrap for web viewing or DVD/CD use it works fine.

Hope this helps answer your question or at least a little help understanding! smiley

I don't think people following the PS blog train are expecting tagger kits. I know I would be irritated if I had come across it. Not that they're inherently bad, they're just not what people expect from a digiscrap train. There are also tagger trains that run. I wonder if maybe a rule should be added about that? Then again, I haven't joined one in a while, so what do I know. smiley

@Brandi & Marty: I have discussed this with Marisa... and she has decided that it is OK for tagger scrappers to participate. We all need a place to row and blossom creatively. She has put up the stipulation of them being CLEARLY marked on their Preview posts as Tagger Size so that we who can't use them don't spend time to try to download and not be able to use them. She has modified the Blog Train rules to state this, so I hope it will suffice in bringing some comfort in knowing which kits are Tagger size before hand. smiley

Tagger size is a smaller file you would use for the web. These are nice if you want to make a web album or post it else where on the web. The smaller size also eliminates some of the resizing. However, Tagger size papers and embellishments are meant for printing, since there a designed with a low resolution, as Shawna already mentioned.

Not everyone want to print every layout, but use there layout as gifts on dvds or to share as web albums only.

Yes, as long as they're clearly marked that's a good thing. smiley And you're right, everyone does need a place to bloom! smiley

I was wondering what tagger size meant. Thanks all for this informative thread! smiley

This is the one of the best post I've ever read about tagger size kits. I came across it about 5 years ago... but Jennifer @SimpleScrapper does a great job giving all the 10-4 on it. smiley

Hi All,

Newbie here, but really felt I should say "thank you" as well to those that responded because I have been wondering about this exact term as well.

Thank you for asking about this and thank you to those of you who provided the responses!

P.S. The only other word that's been driving me a bit zany (and perhaps I'm just reading right over it but haven't noticed yet with all the new info) to find a definition of the word "tubes". I usually see this term in the same stores (but not always) as those who have the "tagger" kits. At least I think I do lol

Thank you again, you just made my weekend!

Hello Angela,

According to this link, tubes are a kind of file used in Corel Paint Shop Pro. They´re the equivalent of photoshop brushes. Seems that lots of taggers use paint shop pro istead of photoshop, and some digiscrappers do the same - we have some of them here in our site!

Hi Lorien,

Ok, that's easy enough to understand;)! Got it. Thank you soooo much!

Angela

I am from the Paint Shop Pro world ..and a Tag sample> http://jovi-girls.com/bevsblog/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/image.jpg are very popular matter fact a tags and wallpapers for computers are used in the Paint Shop Pro world more then layouts or quick pages unless you are using Paint Shop Pro specially for regular scrapbooking and there is templates design for tags

Tags mostly they are used on emails, message boards web designs the tag & the other projects have to be made & used in 72 resolution and the whole tag can not be bigger then 600-800 pixels ( most allows only up to 600pixels ) due to the forums loading speed

instead and of the using personal pictures to show off they use tubes =equality of a scrapbook embellishment/assets /photoshop psd it is Corel's transparent file is format it has a transparent background when I started out with Paint shop pro

they taught you to build your own tubes from photos , drawling it or using shapes then using your tubes in the tags you design but now a days they got away from that they buy their tubes and build tags using a professional artist art (the pin up girls & artist are very popular like Keith Garvey & etc) they have stores and even most artist have their own stores now on their websites where the artist sells their art in tubes a psd or png psptube format ( transparent ) when taggers buy the art they are given license no# and they have to have it on it tag to use the art tube .. ..

they use the tagger size kits to help decorate the tags I have not made a whole kit yet but I do a few tubes and embellishments for the taggers to use I try to make mine no bigger then 700- 900 pixels so the taggers can resize and it still looks nice at a smaller size ( hope I helped a little bit explaining the psp world )

@Bev, your post is very helpful, thanks so much.
Tubes and all sounds confusing sorta but looks awesome with the example you linked. I kinda like the small size for fun digital play time.

All of this was helpful to me. I've been a little unsure about all of these terms. Now, I feel like I've been educated on this subject. Thanks, ladies!
