About Me
I'm a freelance editor, writer and photographer. I picked up cardmaking as an art hobby more than 25 years ago. That led to scrapbooking, but really took off when digital scrapbooking software started popping up on the market. Thanks to PixelScrapper, I have honed my design skills and do some small design jobs for hire, along with my regular editing and writing. I live in the beautiful state of Montana where I work from home and volunteer for a local non-profit called the Dylan Steigers Concussion Project. I also teach water aerobics at our local Women's Club. (Otherwise, I might sit on the couch all day designing!). Besides a passion for photography, I love sports, flyfishing, cardmaking, gardening, and walking. My goal is to try to learn a new technique or enhance existing ones every month so I can give back to this wonderful community of scrapbookers through the PS blog trains.

Description
My best friend died of colon cancer in February. The lyrics challenge (#1/8 for the SLM July 2014 challenge) wasn't so much of a challenge for me, because I used these song lyrics on the left from Laura Story's song "Blessings" to send her an inspirational photo gift. Song with on-screen lyrics can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQan9L3yXjc Her website is here: http://laurastorymusic.com/music/
My journaling below the photo says this: When De called in 2011 to tell me about her diagnosis, she said, “Jules, I’m not worried. I’ve given this to God.” And she did, all the way. I soon sent her a framed photo of mine with these song lyrics because Laura Story’s husband had been battling a brain tumor for 5 years, and she wrote this song that summed up my prayer for De. She loved it so much, she got 4 copies to give to friends. Every time I look at the mountains, I think of how much De loved it out West, with our abundant rivers, mountains and lakes staging magnificent landscapes--no matter which way we drove from home. I’m also reminded of how God blessed me with her friendship since 1976. It was a good ride, if not a long one here on Earth. RIP De, ‘til we meet again...

Thank you for sharing this beautiful page and your wonderful memories. Such a nice tribute to your friend. (I often find myself crying when scrapbooking too!)
Oh Christine, I'm sorry about your sister. Stay strong. This song is so meaningful for anyone with cancer or who is going through a hard time.
Ooh, Julie. This is such a nice song. Get me to think, every time it plays on the readio. I was trying to translate this song for my sister how has cancer for the second time, but it does not come out the same. Your layout is absolutely beautiful. It is emotional and comforting. What a good friend you must be.
Thanks so much, ladies. Yes, I was joking with a friend the other day how many times I cry when I scrap--happy or sad pages! Like...when our kids were little, and now they're all grown up. You just want to pick them up and stuff them back in that page to make them 8 years old again! :-)
Beautiful, Julie! So touching. It is amazing how healing scrapping can be isn't it?
Beautiful layout! Nice way to remember your friend.
Wow, this is a beautiful tribute to your friend Julie. The mountains are lit up like the heavens. Very pretty.
What a wonderful tribute. :D
