About Me
I'm a freelance editor, writer and photographer. I picked up cardmaking as an art hobby more than 25 years ago. That led to scrapbooking, but really took off when digital scrapbooking software started popping up on the market. Thanks to PixelScrapper, I have honed my design skills and do some small design jobs for hire, along with my regular editing and writing. I live in the beautiful state of Montana where I work from home and volunteer for a local non-profit called the Dylan Steigers Concussion Project. I also teach water aerobics at our local Women's Club. (Otherwise, I might sit on the couch all day designing!). Besides a passion for photography, I love sports, flyfishing, cardmaking, gardening, and walking. My goal is to try to learn a new technique or enhance existing ones every month so I can give back to this wonderful community of scrapbookers through the PS blog trains.

Digital Scrapbook LayoutDescription
My first digital camera cost $1,200! (gulp--I still cringe, but it still works!) It only took 1.4 megapixel photos--at the time, it was tops. And this little baby made me a convert from film to digital with the first push of its shiny new button. Oh I was hooked, and I still am. This page shows photos of that clunky, precious, beautiful old thing that gave me endless hours of joy and captured many years of our girls growing up along with the very first photos I took with this camera. My favorite photos ever, though, included those from the first time I took motion photos of my youngest daughter bouncing on the trampoline because this thing had a motor drive, something I'd only dreamed of having before then: https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/julie-cowan/gallery/bounce-layout-may-2014-challenge-scraplift-trampoline-photo-text-flatten-black
I used a couple of kits to put this layout together: Most of the papers and elements are from the Big Sky Country kit from Scraps N Pieces; top frame cluster was a freebie from Kimeric Kreations, and the black alpha came from Kimeric's Kraft Party collection. I adapted the layout from BRAGBOOKPK6 template#6 by AK Designs also at the SNP store.

This is a great layout Julie and a great subject for that matter. It reminds me of my first digital camera and I only paid $1100 for it. lol It was a Nikon and I don't remember the model but I think it was only 1MP Hey, you have to start somewhere and ouch is right on the money paid for them. :D
Beautiful layout! Great story - such a nice way to capture a moment in time.
Great colours! And the photos are really breathtaking!
The papers and elements you chose really fit your photos.
it's frightening how time flies & even more so how quickly techology changes, it's really hard to keep up with it. people might consider these old beasts as relicts but i say- if it still works & gives good pics, keep it! :)
