My father-in-law was looking through auctions to find logging equipment and found a house instead! He knew that my husband and I were getting foreclosed on and our house was too small, besides. He called Scott up and asked him, “Do you want a house?” Of course, the answer was yes! We went to look at it, then all three of us went to the auction, where David bought the house. We officially moved in on Christmas Eve 2009. We still love this house 10 years later, and are doing some major remodeling this year and next (floors & roof, at least). Scott inherited it when his parents died, so now we can get loans to do the repairs we wanted to do. My journaling on the lights reads: Jarek wanted to tromp all around our Portland house in my rain boots, even though they came up to his seat! Tabby checking out Carbon's toy stash that was hidden underneath the DVD shelf. Tabby & Skylar waiting in the truck for Scott to come out of the pet store with their new litter boxes. Spooky waiting in the truck for Scott to come out of the pet store with their new litter boxes. The back of the truck with the cats' climbing tower, scratching post, my sewing basket, and the carriers with Carbon & Rori and Starla. First load over to the new house! Skylar (on the chair) and Starla (on the far side of it) stayed in the purple room while we moved things in. Carbon hiding in a chart-paper "teepee" after being thoroughly traumatized by the ride to the new house and peeing on himself & Rori in the carrier. Rori hiding behind boxes at the other end of the room from Carbon after he peed on her in their carrier on the way to the new house. Carbon's bottlecap collection under the fridge at the Portland house, plus enough fur to make a kitten! Rori hiding in the ponies in the closet. Spooky was also hiding here, but he was to the right in a shelf. Skylar in "his" chair once we moved it into the living room and let the cats out to explore. As long as he had his chair and the TV, he was fine anywhere. Starla investigating the fireplace and not at all sure if she trusted that there wasn't another animal behind the "cage."
This is the first of two 2-page spreads. I used “Christmas Layout Template 4” from Marisa Lerin, 2 papers from “Like Them Apples” by the GingerBread Ladies/Connie Prince, a paper from “Colder Weather” by Scraps N Pieces, and an element from “Like Totally Awesome” by the GingerBread Ladies/Prelestnaya P.
