Creature of the night, denizon of the world, I don't know where I fit and I have yet to find my true home. A military "brat," I was born in Germany "nach dem Krieg" and have subsequently lived in various states in the U.S., Okinawa, Mexico, Israel, the Bahamas, and now the U.S. Virgin Islands. I speak English too well from years and years of working as an editor. I'm conversational in German and Spanish and always trying to improve both. At one time, I could meet and greet visitors to the library where I worked in 14 different languages. As you can imagine, I love linguistics and the diaspora of language. I also like history (especially ancient cultures), art in all its many forms, both the natural and physical sciences, religion and philosophy, anthropology, psychology, etc., etc. My goal is to use up that mythical 80% of brain power "they" say we never use! I would love to travel more, but besides being poor, I've also become lazy. It's so much easier nowadays to take a trip around the world via the Internet, and there's no dirty laundry to drag home, not to mention having to endure long lines at airports, crowded planes, and abysmal food service once onboard. Recent events in the cruising industry have ceased any inclination I may have had to travel via ship. What else should I say? Don't get me started because I've been known to talk to a tree if it moves twice. :) BTW, I detest social media or networking, but I've succomb to Facebook in order to stay in touch with my son and DIL on the East Coast. And I'd rather read a good book than blog, so my blog is always out of date. Twitter? You must be kidding!
