About Me
Creature of the night, citizen of the world, I have yet to find my true home. An "Air Force brat," I was born in Germany and have subsequently lived in various states in the U.S., Okinawa, Mexico, Israel, the Bahamas, and now the U.S. Virgin Islands. I speak English well from years of working as an editor. I'm conversational in German and Spanish and always trying to improve both. At one time, I could meet and greet visitors to the library where I worked in 14 different languages. As you can imagine, I love linguistics and learning other languages. I also like history (especially ancient cultures), art in all its forms, the natural and physical sciences, religion and philosophy, anthropology, psychology, etc. My goal is to use up that mythical 80% of brain power we never use! I would love to travel more, but a tight budget and laziness keeps me home. It's very easy nowadays to take a trip anywhere on Earth via the Internet, and there's no dirty laundry to drag home afterwards, not to mention avoiding long lines at airports, crowded planes, and abysmal food service once aboard. Recent events in the cruising industry have ceased any inclination I may have had to travel via ship. What else should I say? Don't get me started because I've been known to talk to a tree if it moves twice. :) Although I detest social media, I signed up with Facebook to stay in touch with my son and DIL on the East Coast. I'd also rather read a good book than blog, so it too is always out of date. Twitter? You must be kidding!
