About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

@Sarah: I haven't read any other Deanna Raybourn books, but maybe I will. Maisie Dobbs is a weird one. I read like 11 books and even now I'm not sure if I really like her as a character...
@Marisa - Thank you! I've read the Lady Darby & Lady Julia series (loved them), tried the first Maisie Dobbs book when it first came out but couldn't get into it (I'll dig it out & try it again, though!) & the others I've never read. I'm pretty sure I have one of the Tasha Alexander books somewhere so I'll look for that. Have you read any of Deanna Raybourn's other books (non-series)? I've read one or two & enjoyed them but haven't read all of them.
@Sarah: I had that one on my list, but I've moved it up! Let's see, for others there's the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear, Lady Darbie series by Anna Lee Huber, Kate Shackleton series by Frances Brody, Lady Emily series by Tasha Alexander, and Lady Julie series by Deanna Raybourn. For now...
Oh, yes, please - I'd love some more suggestions!! And this is set during WWII rather than between the wars but have you read Susan Elia MacNeal's Maggie Hope series? I have loved them all (& am also working my way through her lists of non-fiction sources) Thanks to my Dad, who not only did cryptanalysis during the war at Vint Hill Station in Virginia but was also a history professor, I am fascinated by WWII history so this series, & her bibliography, is right up my alley!
@Kaleena: I'm a bit obsessed with Goodreads. Not because it's a well designed site, but because I need to keep track of my books. You can set a reading challenge for the year, which I've found is helpful to keep me both reading and tracking my books.
@Sarah: The Laurie King series is my all time most favorite thing. You should read it right now. I didn't read Wind in the Willows until last year, and in my opinion I would not have appreciated it as a kid, but as adult it's magic. Regarding Ashley Weaver, I'm obsessed with female detectives in the time period between the two world wars. That one was possibly my favorite. If you want more suggestions, I have them :)
I am so horrible at keeping up with my Goodreads account and it makes me sad. I think it says I have been reading the same book for over 6 months now. I love this books do so much to shape our ways of thinking.
Books! And books I haven't all read!! The Ashley Weaver looks like it might be a historical mystery (but recent history). I haven't read her but must look her up! I'm so glad to see The Bloggess on your list - she's amazing! And I'm still trying to Kon Marie my life - loved the book but the follow through is proving much slower. I haven't read the Mary King series yet but my husband is working his way through it (it's in my TBR shelf). And true confessions time - I haven't ever read The Wind in the Willows (yes, shame on me) but I'm doing a classics challenge this year & I think I'll read it for one of the categories. It's past time. I LOVE Mary Oliver's poetry (& pretty much all poetry) so I'll have to check to see if I have that particular book. And the last two (An Altar & Royal We) I know nothing about. I'll look them up, too! Lovely layout - but then it's full of books so it can't be anything but! ;-)
