About Me
Artist, mother, housewife, lover of colour and nature.
I live with my husband in mid Northumberland England on a remote working farm. Our little cottage is almost 400 years old and very quirky with a walled garden. Our daughter is at university studying Archaeology.
We have dogs both a house dog and 2 working border collies and 2 cats that share our lives. I have always said I will end up a crazy cat lady ;)
I love artwas a professional artist for a good number of years before a major illness put paid to the stress and running about, so now I am turning to a more leisurely pursuit of scrapbooking and crafting both for pleasure. I have a lovely little craft room that was once a hayloft, but is now all cosy and filled with all sorts of treasures!
I also spin and own three spinning wheels, a Haldane Hebridean was my mother in laws, a Westbury, and a Louet S17 which I produce my art yarns on. I weave on peg looms and frame looms and collect raw fleece like it is going out of fashion which I dye up.
I like to collect vintage and quirky things, especially fabrics, baskets and papers. My poor husband despairs!!
I have lived in Northumberland all my life and it certainly influences my colour chouces, the beautiful autumn colours and huge skies, vivid spring flowers that fill the roadsides and the wild winter storms that batter the landscape all influence the work I do or the colours I use in projects for myself. Winter usually brings out the knitting needles and crochet hooks!
I adore Magpies. They seem to appear everywhere I go and often in unexpected places, usually when I am mulling over a idea. When they show up then I tend to go with that idea!! I am thrilled that one has taken up residence in my garden at long last. This is the handsome chap in my avatar drawing.
