I’m a 50-something divorced mother of one daughter, and we both live with my mum - I am my mum's carer, and was also my dad's until he passed away in July 2013. I’ve always loved arts and crafts, and have tried lots of different crafts over the years, including crochet, teddy-bear making, cross stitching, card making, and other paper crafts.
I have quite a substantial stash of beautiful paper, card and other bits and pieces - I was keen to try scrapbooking, but could never bear to cut into any of my pretty paper. I was only able to do the card making if I bought two pieces of paper the same – one to use, and one to keep (admire, stroke… you get the picture!)
As with all my hobbies, I started to buy scrapbooking magazines (ok, yes, I am a craft magazine-aholic!) Anyway, I started to see all these beautiful digital layouts – so that got me interested in digital scrapbooking. So, like many others, I started to download. And download. And download – but I still wasn’t brave enough to try scrapping! I tried some digital scrapbooking programs, but they were really glorified card making programs, and I quickly got frustrated with the amateurish results. Then I got PSE 11, and started to learn how to use the program……
And then I found Pixel Scrapper, and a whole new world opened up for me! The combination of quality digital supplies and tutorials was wonderful, but it’s the people who make this place so special. From Marisa & Jordan to the designers and all the other people who contribute to the running of this site, and to all the other members – I have never come across such a friendly, welcoming group of people. And now I’m so addicted that I can’t go a day without logging on and having a look at the beautiful things everybody is creating, downloading something, or chatting on the forums (would you believe I had never even read a forum before I came here, let alone posted anything!)
I only started digital scrapbooking at the beginning of 2014, and although I haven’t done very many layouts (I’ve been concentrating mainly on trying to organise my digital stash!), I have started in a very limited way to design papers to offer as freebies to other members, and even participated in my very first blog train (Autumn Art in October 2014).
So, as you can see, I am gradually building my skills with PSE, and really enjoying my participation in this site.
PIXEL SCRAPPER FOR EVER! (Can you tell I’m just a wee bit obsessed!)
