New to Digital Scrapbooking, just started in 2019, want to make a record of family stories before my mother passes away. My dad died in 2016. I currently live in Canada but was born and raised in New Zealand, and emigrated to Canada upon marrying my Canadian spouse. Home Country - lets see - New Zealand or Canada? Which to choose? Most of my photos will be from NZ, but any pics of my son will be from Canada. MY IP Address will say that I am in Canada which is fine. My mother and sister are still back in NZ so I will make my home country as NZ for now. For Facebook, I dont check it every day - I am not addicted to FB, and I use a different name for privacy. My image is myself as a child - aged about 2 or 3 years old

Day 48 - Now we are Parents. Since the month I am making this page in, is May 2019, my son has just celebrated his 17th birthday. So here is what he looked like on his first day of life in May 2002. He was gorgeous!! He is actually still a good looking young man. And he is now way taller than me.
My pregnancy was quite easy, but I was under the care of an OBGYN because I was an "older mother" which is the label they give to moms who are over the age of 35. I did have some nausea in the mornings, but was never subjected to morning sickness, thank goodness.
My labour and delivery however did not go smoothly. I was 9 days overdue, so I had to be induced with pitocin. And when that did not work - because my son has big bones and I have a small frame, and he was unable to move down the birth canal - I ended up having to have a C-section. He weighed 7 pounds 13 oz, and was 21 inches long. His Apgar numbers were 9 and 10 respectively.
My sons name is NOT John, but that is what we will call him in these pages, because I have so many photos of him as a child and growing up. As such, I want to post many of these photos, and you might get tired of me using the phrase, "my son". So for these pages we will call him John.
I spent 3 days in the hospital before I was eventually kicked out.

Oh yes, the "older mother" label. I'm quite familiar with that, being on my second pregnancy of that type. (I've also heard it called "geriatric" and "advanced maternal age" around here. Way to make me feel good about still being in my 30s.) And 17! Crazy how time flies.
