Married (to the best man in the world), mother of 2 boys, also a bereaved parent...my first child was born with a severe siezure disorder which interferred with his development. He was profoundly retarded and totally handicapped throughout his short life of 13 years. My second son is over twenty years and helps take care of me(more about this below) during the day while my husband is at work.
In January, 2008 I discovered that I had only 3 months until my niece's wedding shower and since I wanted to create a genealogical scrapbook as my gift, I knew there'd be no way I could meet that deadline using the traditional paper scrapping method... so off I went searching for a way to do it digitally...that's when I discovered the world of digital scrapbooking. Since then, I've benn on a few Creative Teams. Then, in 2010, I began trying my hand at designing digital scrapbook products. I sold my designs for 3 years from the digital scrapbook store known as E-scape and Scrap. By April 2013, I decided to give up selling my designs and return to giving them away freely. My plans were to create some tutorials also since I have a professional background in developing 'Computer Based Training' BUT as what often happens with PLANS, my plans were thwarted by my health. I suffered a brain embolism (aka stroke) in July 2013. Now I am a left-sided hemiplegic(left side of my body is paralyzed), Since my left arm is paralyzed, I must do everything one-handed, which makes typing and designing(among other things) a bit of a problem. However, I miss designing so I decided to join this site to participate in the designer challenges with the hope that I'll regain the skills I've since forgotten.
Hopefully, in time (hopefully a short time - because I'm OLD and don't have a lot of time left) and with my physical therapies, I'll one day return to my former mobile self.
THis layout is a scraplift of a layout by Bright Eyes at Scrapbook-Bytes ).
Created with the Changes Collaboration kit by Inspired by Dominic Designs and Valerie Olstrom Designs.
The font I used for the journaling is 'Arial Narrow' and it reads as follows: LIFE is a constant CHANGE, often of which we have no control, sometimes it just happens, like the brain embolism I had in July, 2013, which caused me to have a stroke aka CVA (cerebral vascular accident). and the resulting paralysis of the entire left side of my body.
Fortunately, I received good health care early enough not only to save my life but also to change some aspects of the paralysis. With guidance and a lot of physical work by me, my smile went from lopsided to balanced and rather than flop over like a rag doll,I was able to stand and walk a bit again with the correct assistive equipment too.
Here I am 5.5 months later and already, I've improved enough to downsize my assistive equipment for walking from a KFO (Knee and foot orthotic) -worn from foot to mid thigh- to that of an AFO (Ankle Foot Orthotic) -worn from the foot to just below the knee- I'd like to say that my GOAL for 2014 is to get to the point where I can walk without assistive equipment at all but in reality, I don't have much control over that so rather than a GOAL, it is instead a WISH.
If life allows me to have two wishes, my biggest WISH at the moment is to regain some use of my left arm and hand. It's surprising to discover how many basic things in life require two arms and hands to accomplish!.
The font used on the titles over the photos is my own (created with my own handwriting).
The green border (or frame) around the photos was done by using the stroke effect in Photoshop.
