Today's photo goes back two years to the week Jordan and I spent traveling around Jerusalem with a college class led by Jordan's father. It was a wonderful, if slightly intense trip.

When I look back through my photo collection, it's hard to resist choosing a photo from our travels in Taiwan. It was such a wonderful place to travel. The people were so friendly, and not in a "they say hello to you way" but in a "take you to the train station in their car when you are lost in the middle of nowhere" sort of friendly. This happened to us multiple times. I have never in my whole life had so many strangers offer ridiculous amounts of help. It most definitely left a very special impression. Also, Taiwan is the birth place of bubble tea.

After a long stretch of rain and clouds, yesterday the sky cleared up, the sun came out and the temperature dropped considerably. Woke up this morning to a very cold house, but the sun is still out so I guess that's a consolation.

We're in the midst of a big push, trying to get various things finished before out-of-town family starts arriving on Saturday for Thanksgiving festivities. Yesterday I made a practice round of mashed potatoes for a party. I feel pretty confident about mashed potatoes now. It's nice to feel like something from the Thanksgiving menu isn't a mystery.

It's Thursday, which means it's the day to look back in the archives. Three years ago I was trudging around Taiwan in the rain. Love Taiwan, love walking in the rain every day a little less. Taiwan was the first stop on the year long trek Jordan and I took, and it stole our hearts. All 16 countries that followed were just a little less magical.

I really like the idea of a throwback day. I have, as I'm sure you do too, so many photos that's easy to forget about some old favorites. It's great to have a day dedicated to searching through the archive looking for a special moment. This photo is 3 years old and captures the last time I experienced autumn. A few days before we left Korea to begin our traveling adventure, we went with a friend to a national park to experience the fall colors in all their glory. It was a great way to honor our time in Korea and also to make an autumn memory to last the next three years.
