masking tool

I would like to know how to use the black 'masking' stuff on the site please. Also can I do things through my Adobe Photoshop elements 2.0? or which photoshop do you use?
Also, where do I go to ask these questions smiley L

I too would also like to know how to use the black PNG masking tools. I am currently using Paint Dot net (PDN) - and while it allows PNG frames and elements - it seems to not be able to allow us to place a PNG element inside a black PNG mask.

A Tutorial would be great!!
